📖 Direct Answer

The last ayat (verse 83) of Surah Yaseen is: فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِى بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ — “So exalted is He in Whose hand is the dominion of all things, and to Him you will be returned.” This is considered one of the most comprehensive declarations of divine sovereignty in the entire Quran.

What Scholars Say About This Final Ayat

Ibn Kathir calls Ayat 83 “a comprehensive declaration that encompasses the totality of divine sovereignty.” The word Malakoot (مَلَكُوتُ) is the intensive form of Mulk (kingdom/dominion) — indicating not just ordinary dominion but absolute, complete, and total sovereignty over every existing thing without exception. Ibn Ashur notes that the Surah’s closing with this declaration is deliberately comprehensive: after the Surah has addressed Prophethood, history, natural signs, resurrection, and divine power — it concludes by placing all of these within the ultimate framework: Allah holds everything in His hands, and every soul will return to Him.

The phrase “wa ilayhi turja’oon” (and to Him you will be returned) is an Arabic second-person plural — Allah is addressing all of humanity simultaneously. This is the final word of Surah Yaseen: a reminder of return, accountability, and the absolute certainty of meeting Allah. Scholars recommend reflecting on this verse especially at the end of one’s recitation of Surah Yaseen — sitting with the awareness that you will one day return to the One whose word you just read.
