Surah Yaseen begins at the start of its position in Juz 22. The 22nd Juz begins with Surah Al-Ahzab (33) Ayat 31 and proceeds through several surahs before reaching Surah Yaseen. Surah Yaseen then extends beyond the boundary of Juz 22 into Juz 23, which begins with Surah Yaseen Ayat 28 (according to some scholarly divisions) or the transition is marked at a specific point within Surah Yaseen’s verses.

Why Does Surah Yaseen Span Two Juz?

The division of the Quran into 30 Juz was done by Muslim scholars in the early Islamic period primarily to facilitate memorisation and regular recitation — specifically for completing the Quran in one month of Ramadan by reading one Juz per day. The division points are based on equal distribution of content, not on thematic boundaries. As a result, several surahs — including Surah Yaseen — span across Juz boundaries.
